Every day we hear bad news, on the TV, through friends. We reply with ‘ee isn’t that awful’ or ‘you just don’t know how lucky you are.’ But deep down you are thinking thank goodness it isn’t me. Bad things don’t happen to people you know and they certainly don’t happen to you. Then one day it does happen to you and you think how do we cope? How on earth are we going to get through this? Then lots of little things happen, your friend drops you a text, your neighbour calls around with a bag of shopping, the local florist brings a never ending supply of flowers. You begin to realise you are not alone, it doesn’t fix anything, it doesn’t make it better but it does feel like a hundred hands holding you up when you haven’t got the strength; an invisible support structure guiding you through the darkest times. For all those people who have been there, who will be there, who don’t even realise they have helped this page isn’t just a place to remember Big Col but celebrate friendships and relationships, to remember what we have now and try to continue the support that has gotten us this far. Please feel free to leave messages, share photographs, to laugh, cry and find strength xxx
